Pembroke Lodge Wedding - S R Taylor Photography

Helen and Sam celebrated their wedding at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park, London. What a venue. I was so, so excited when I heard that this is where we'd be spending the day: what a privilege to take photos in one of London's Royal parks!

Before arriving into Richmond Park, there were some other lovely places to mention. Helen, her family and her bridesmaids got ready at The Kingston Lodge Hotel  I was lucky enough to spend time with them in the morning, and was there for when Helen's little boy was dressed in his finery! Considering she was only hours away from her wedding, Helen was calm, relaxed and generally on brilliant form.

I was spoilt by the church: St Andrew's is a neo-gothic church built in 1831 and it is simply splendid, both inside and out. It is also a stone's throw from Richmond and Pembroke Lodge.

Then it was all systems go at Pembroke Lodge! They really are like a well-oiled machine: everything ran exactly on time, the staff were kind, helpful, efficient and hugely enthusiastic. I couldn't recommend them more highly - they did everything they could to make sure it was a no-hassle, upbeat, well-drilled celebration.

I was excited to have a walk with Helen and Sam away from the venue; to spend a little bit of time surrounded by the splendour of Richmond Park. However, a ferocious downpour prevented us from venturing too far... Rain is never ideal on your wedding day, but lucky for us this short storm provided us with two magical things: a hugely dramatic backdrop for the more formal photos as the dark clouds approached, and then the most perfect sunset we could have hoped for.

It really was quite a day - as you can tell, the dance floor went pretty nuts once the formalities were over! Thanks to Pembroke Lodge for looking after me so well, and thanks most of all to Helen and Sam for choosing me to document their day.
